FIGMA / MIRO

A website for planning trips to the Telemark Canal, customized to individual needs, offering options for amenities like hotels and restaurants. It aims to provide peace of mind, especially for seniors, by giving ample information before their journey.

As a part of the AccessTour project, which promotes sustainable and accessible tourism, kanAlle was developed. As the name "kanAlle" suggests, we believe in making travel accessible for everyone!

about

There are many potential tourists who cannot travel, either because they are hesitant due to a lack of information about accommodations and accessibility, or because they do not believe there are adequate options available for them.

Challenge

Enable individuals with disabilities to plan and book vacations using only online information, without contacting multiple providers or relying on a travel agency. Giving them the freedom to plan a travel just as easy as those without accessibility needs.

Goal

to service providers

A website for service providers was also designed. We believe it is the providers’ responsibility to ensure their amenities are accessible or to inform to inform their customers if they are not. We created a Accessibility assessment, while also encouraging providers to take the course at European Training Certificate Accessible for All in the Tourism Sector (ETCAATS).

reflections and takeaways

This was my first project designing a website of such scope. It was a valuable learning experience, requiring careful consideration of various stakeholders.

Working closely with universal design throughout every step made me aware of the importance of being specific when applying UD practices, while also not catering to specific individuals and ensuring inclusivity.
